RED WINE FROM VALTELLINA
When he presented his "prelude for solo violin" to the Parisian public, the young Johan Sebastian Bach appeared fragile and evanescent, but master of an impressive technique. There was nothing ordinary about him and with every stroke of the bow he played new music that left everyone speechless.
When the first ranking of Italian POPWINEs was revealed at Vinitaly 2014, Rosso di Valtellina reached the top first. La Gazzetta dello Sport narrated the rise of this Nebbiolo tonic from the Alps , making its youthful impetus and modern expressive elegance known.
ARPEPE 's Rosso di Valtellina DOC was born in 2003 in a torrid summer, very harsh for our winemakers and our vineyards. It was not right to debase these efforts by selling off the grapes, which are unsuitable for long-aging winemaking. The choice was natural: what may have little value in the distant future can be ennobled at a young age. Rosso di Valtellina thus developed a free and carefree character, despite its older brothers, more serious and refined, fearing its durability over time.
Cellar
ARPEPE wines are the result of a production philosophy capable of expressing the Nebbiolo of the Alps at its best . Our interpretation consists in giving the right space to all the instruments of wine orchestration. In this process the cellar plays an important role. For 5 generations we have been using vats, large barrels, steel or concrete tanks and lots and lots of patience: the kind that requires the right waiting time .
Vineyard
Our vineyards, a total of 13 hectares of our property, are located in the heart of the Valtellina Superiore DOCG , distributed between Sassella , Grumello and Inferno . The processing is carried out completely by hand, as are the phytosanitary treatments. We know how challenging it is to take care of the vineyard; this can take up to 1500 hours to cultivate a single hectare of land.
