A wonderfully vivacious and fine Pauillac wine
The estate
Located in the heart of the Pauillac appellation, on Bordeaux’s Left Bank, Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste took its present form in 1855, although it was built as early as the 16th century. The wine estate was marked by the passage of Raymond Dupin from 1930 to 1978. He then sold the property to the Borie family in 1978, who have since carried out numerous renovations. Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste is today one of the most representative wines of the Pauillac appellation.
The vineyard
Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste 2022 is a Pauillac wine made from 90 hectares of vines, 60 of which are planted in a single block. The vines are 38 years old on average and are planted on deep gravelly hilltops.
The vintage
A mild and moderately rainy winter advanced budburst at the end of March. Flowering was rapid and uniform, and took place under good weather conditions. The spring, like the summer, was marked by alternating hot and rainy spells. Veraison began on 13 July, with warm days and cool nights ensuring that the grapes gradually ripened. The harvest began historically early on 7 September.
Winemaking and ageing
The manual harvest was followed by a double sorting on a vibrating table before and after de-stemming. Vatting time of about 3 weeks. Aged in French oak barrels (75% new).
Blend
Cabernet Sauvignon (79%)
Merlot (21%).
